Funerals

We will always be here to help you through one of life's most difficult times, giving support before, during and after the service for as long as it's needed.

A Church of England funeral is available to everyone, regardless of whether a loved one was 'religious' or not. We love to be able to offer a Christian message of hope and comfort at such a sad time.

At St John the Baptist, Hillmorton we can help personalise the service of your loved one, through meeting with you either at church, home or our vicarage. We will take time to listen to you and learn about your family member. During these meetings we can help you choose music, hymns, poems and readings that reflect the last wishes of your loved one or your wishes.

As part of our support to you and your family we will invite you to our annual Service of Remembrance which takes place at St John’s in October/November. During this service we remember those we have lost not only during the year, but we can include the names of other late members of your family.

If you would like to discuss the possibility of a Church of England funeral (which can take place in church at St John’s Hillmorton, at a crematorium, a cemetery or other outdoor burial site) please contact us, or if you feel you would like to talk to someone about a loss – we can offer support and prayer with you.

Burial of Ashes in our Memorial Garden

We have a beautiful and peaceful part of our churchyard that is set aside as a final resting place for the ashes of loved-ones, along with a memorial stone on which a small named plaque can be placed.

Please contact us if you’re interested in having the ashes of a loved one buried in our memorial garden.

You can find a wide range of information to help you with planning a funeral at the Church of England funerals site here.
